In 1963, Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited was established as a private company. India became a public corporation in January 1964 under the British India Companies Act, 1913, which is now governed by the Pakistan Companies Act, 2017. It is currently listed on the Pakistan Stock Exchange.

SNGPL takes gas through two routes. The first is “System Gas”; the second is “RLNG”. Regarding System Gas, the local resource gas obtained is between 750,000 mmcd. In the case of RLNG or regasified liquefied natural gas, the gas is imported from abroad in liquid form in a sealed container.

Pakistan Industrial Development Corporation (PIDC) and 82 miles (132 km) of 6-inch (150 mm) Dhulian-Rawalpindi-Wah system, the Company took over the existing Sui-Multan System with 217 miles (349 km) of 16-inch (410 mm) and 80 miles (130 km) of 10-meter pipes. Starting with two areas—Multan and Rawalpindi—the Company’s commercial activity began selling 1.3 million cubic meters (47 million cubic feet) daily.
